  • Sign-up for any regularly scheduled yoga or Pilates mat class. Drop-in fee is $15 per class, $13 per class with a 5-class pass and $12 per class with a 10-class pass. 5- and 10-class passes can be used interchangeably between yoga and Pilates classes AND can be shared with friends or family members.

Summer Teen Yoga Intensive: Stretch, Strive, Succeed, Shine — SPARK!

Join us for an experience like no other! SPARK is a 2-week summer intensive just for teens to move, learn, explore, grow — to truly come alive!!!

We will focus on Individual Expression, Authenticity, Self-trust, Empowerment — all delivered with a healthy dose of FUN. Here a just a few of the things you can look forward to…

  • Get into your body with Creative Movement, Yoga and Body/Mind Integration.
  • Focus your mind and connect to your Authentic Self through breathing exercises, visualizations and centering.
  • Gain skills to improve your communication with friends, family, teachers.
  • Explore and expand your personal possibilities with the support of your team leaders and peers!
  • Create new friendships and memories while gaining tools that can be used in all aspects of Life.

This is not just another summer camp. This is a unique experience to discover the truly amazing life that awaits you!

Sample Day 1

2:30 – 2:45 Tribe Time; come in, get settled, mingle and chat with your friends and team leaders
2:45 – 3:45 Yoga
3:45 – 4:15 Discussion Topic: You Are What You Think; How your thoughts create your reality
4:15 – 4:30 Partner Exercise – Working with a partner to experience different ways of communication
4:30 – 4:45 Journaling; write down the repetitive negative thoughts you tell yourself and create a compassionate replacement for each one
4:45 – 5:00 Sharing circle
5:00 – 5:15 Centering; mentally review the day and find your personal highlights, bring the mind to quiet, prepare to transition out of class by taking a few moments for deep relaxation
5:15 – 5:30 Tribe time; share highlights and insights, set intention for the rest of the night

Sample Day 2

2:30 – 2:45 Tribe time; review the previous day’s topic, talk about how it went at home
2:45 – 3:00 Centering; cultivate awareness of breath, body, and mind
3:00 – 4:00 Discussion topic: Your Personal Potential – what is it that you want to be and do with this precious life RIGHT NOW? What are the things that hold you back? How can you live in authenticity with who you really are?
4:00 – 4:30 Partner Exercise; Finding Your Voice/Facing Your Fears
4:30 – 4:45 Vision Board planning; prepare for the next day’s Vision Board activity
4:45 – 5:20 Yoga
5:20 – 5:30 Tribe Time; wind down the day and prepare for transition home

Susan Grady

Susan Grady, “Suz!” has been teaching, supporting, leading and inspiring others for many years. With strong roots in dance and musical theatre and having performed in seven countries in the Far East plus 47 of our 50 United States, Suz’s focus has now naturally shifted from the stage to the classroom where she feels she can make much more of a positive impact on others. She teaches with passion, devotion, and Love of her students and the message she shares, which pulls from traditions of yoga, dance, meditation, and all of the Great Teachers that have Blessed her life. A proud graduate of The University of Michigan (GO BLUE!), Suz cannot wait to share with you the excitement of learning to focus on and discover all of the POSSIBILITIES and GIFTS that lie within YOU!

Courtney McGuiness

 

 

Courtney McGuiness has learned that when you love what you do, nothing is really work. A dancer, yogi, health coach, and mentor, Courtney has been leading workshops, teaching classes, and empowering individuals for almost 10 years. Courtney guides her students with warmth and authenticity, encouraging a deep connection to self, present-moment awareness, and personal inquiry. She feels most passionate about working with teens, and strives to create a class experience that is creative, holistic, and light-hearted. Courtney is a certified Kripalu Yoga Instructor and has also studied yoga-dance fusion classes like Yoga Booty Ballet and Yoga Trance Dance. She is thrilled to team up with Suz to bring you this amazing program that will help you unlock all of your personal power, insight, intelligence, and joy!

The first 5-Days consist of the RESET which is low glycemic and all natural bars and shakes, unlimited raw veggies and a serving of berries. The first 5 days will help “RESET” and detox the system. From there, Urban Girl Wellness will guide participants on making different lifestyle and food choices and encourages you to eat at least one bar and one shake a day since they’re the perfect balance of good fats, carbs and protein. Day 5-28 will be eating what participants choose for two meals a day plus two snacks. UGW provides shopping lists, advice on eating out, recipes and support through the entire program.

I’m very interested, but concerned about the diet, as I have Type II Diabetes and eat VERY low carb, high protein to maintain good blood sugar levels.
Is there a meeting time on the 6th

Hi Gwen,
Thanks for your question! I understand your concern. In general, most diabetics will be able to follow the program (depending on how well you are currently managing your diabetes-which it sounds like you’re doing an excellent job!). In some cases it may be necessary to monitor blood glucose levels more regularly, especially if there is a significant change in carbohydrate intake. I hope this helps. The YOGAWOMAN screening at our studio was one of more than 200 screenings around the world. From Hungary to Holland, Japan to Jamaica to Metairie, YOGAWOMAN is touching the lives of the women of yoga across the world.

Our studio was part of this historic launch!

YOGAWOMAN’s screening success led to the signing of a YOGAWOMAN theatrical release across North America and Australia! Because of this agreement, all future screenings are canceled, effective today. Unfortunately, this means that we will not be able to host our April 14 screening as planned; however, we all look forward to being a part of the CINEMA RELEASE as YOGAWOMAN comes to the big screen in New Orleans!

Join us Saturday morning for a FREE yoga class at Whole Foods!

Get ready to, stretch, tone and let go of daily stresses through this moving meditation! This playful and energetic yoga class is designed to provide a full-body workout to practicing yogis as well as introduce the benefits of yoga to those who are curious; see for yourself how yoga will increase your flexibility, balance, and strength and leave you feeling calm and refreshed for the rest of the day.

Class is from 9-10 a.m. on the grass at the Severn side of Whole Foods.  Whole Foods will offer $2 smoothies after class to benefit the Whole Planet Foundation.

Note: Our regularly scheduled 7:45 a.m. Yoga for Athletes class Saturday has been cancelled; join us at 9 a.m. to support Lauren!  There is no change in the regularly scheduled 9 a.m. Saturday Hatha class with Michele.

Join Namasté of Metairie and Macy’s at Lakeside as Macy’s launches a new line of yoga activewear: Ideology, activewear for those who believe in the power of movement.  Ideology is designed to help you stretch, sweat and relax in maximum comfort and body-beautiful style.

Our studio will be on hand to demonstrate basic yoga poses in the Ideology line and discuss a class to fit your needs.

And, of course, there’s always the fun of trying on pieces from the new Ideology line to wear to class next week! :)
